When you think you're reeling slowly enough, REEL SLOWER ! Also.... Smash/crimp down the barbs. You'll never lose a fish because of barbless. But it will save you a lot of headaches and heartaches. Easier to remove from fish (back into the water more quickly), split braid, nets, lines, clothing, and PEOPLE. You don't need barbs on lures. This is my #1 goto lure. 4'-7' deep... It's the best. Lastly.... Color does not matter. I've used them ALL. They all work the same....GREAT. If you're in 1'-4'.... Use Catch-2000 I know MirrOlure likes to promote Mirro-dine. Catch-2000 is better. Especially if it's windy and/or any current. It casts futher and doesn't catch wind and get blown off course. It doesn't catch the current. Same sink rate. I've caught a thousand plus with both. Catch-2000 is easier to use.

Hi Captain Bill! I was good friends with the late Bob Harbison of Hubbard's Marina and he would tell me stories about Bobby Buswell when they fished next to each other on their respective vessels back in the old days. Bob wrote about Bobby Buswell several times in his fishing forums, especially the Florida Sportsman forums. I assume Bobby is still with us and he is our ONLY link to the past in regards to historical information. Would it be possible for you to meet with Bobby Buswell and make a comprehensive video of him talking about the early days (i.e. the 1950's to the early-60's) down in Pass-a-Grille and also talking about his father, Capt. Frank Buswell, who skippered the original "Miss Pass-a-Grille" party boat and also the famous "Miss Pass-a-Grille II" half day party boat which Frank skippered for many years? Bobby Buswell is the only one remaining who can give a firsthand account of this fishing history, etc... beginning down at Hubbard's Pier. In closing, DID YOU KNOW that the "Miss Pass-a-Grille II" was built in a backyard of a trailer park in Pinellas Park by one man all by himself in the 1950's? It was all documented in the St. Petersburg Times and was the only party fishing boat to be "paraded" down the middle of Central Ave. in St. Petersburg on a flatbed truck when it was being transported to the Gulf Beaches from Bayboro Harbor. When the vessel made its maiden voyage with Capt.Floyd Pippenger, Sr., it was named "Royal Pearl", named after the boatbuilder's second wife, Pearl. This was before Wilson Hubbard purchased the boat and Bobby Buswell was just getting his start at Hubbard's Pier. The history of all of this is amazing and it is documented in the Times' archives. I would love to see a video of Capt. Bobby Buswell talking about the very early days in Pass-a-Grille and about his renowned father when they both worked at Hubbard's Pier. Sorry this got so lengthy! --- John L.

What a colossal waste of good meat! As an island native, we eat the whole fish, including head and tail. Some of the best meat on the king fish is in the head and tail! You threw away most of the fish!

9:30 He says "Whatever way the fish is pulling, I want you to pull the opposite direction...The objective is to confuse and subdue the fish, not follow the fish." Great explanation on how to get a good hook set and fight a fish. This guy has really good information. 13:00 says he usually gets his best fish right in the prop wash. Someone once told me that your boat and prop wash is your best and main 'teaser'. 37:00 He's explaining how carefully good fisherman are with their live bait and how you should treat it. Any blemish on your live bait is a no-no; that's really interesting to me when thought of from an artificial perspective, don't we all have beat up lures they don't look like they used to be keep producing just as good. He talks about clear water fishing like a California bass guy balancing everything to get bit and land the fish. Great content.

Fishing structure is superior….point blank. There’s a reason dolphin spook structure…it gets results and I’m pretty sure this guy will not be giving advice to those fishing assassins. If your using a coated stainless steel 80 lb leader that snook can flare his gills til the cows come home. Big lures and treble hooks keep the snook from choking it gone…face it , fish with lures in their face get to swim away unharmed and choked lures and bait send injured fish away to be upside down or eaten by prey. Their are two kind of fishermen…. Lure users with skill and bait fishermen that count on baits work.
